    Northern Ireland's health service spent over £10 million on patient taxis in the last fiscal year, a rise from £9.3 million the previous year. The Southern Trust accounted for the largest increase, spending £2.8 million. Concerns have been raised about the effectiveness of the transport system, with calls for patients to be sent to closer treatment centers.
