    Invasive Species Threatens Irish Biodiversity

    Rhododendron ponticum, introduced to Ireland in the 1700s, threatens native biodiversity by producing up to 7,000 seeds per flower and forming dense thickets. The Irish Wildlife Trust reports that invasive species affect 51% of protected habitats. Millions have been spent on eradication efforts, with ongoing management needed to combat its spread.
