    A recent study analyzed 116,000 songs from 3,160 bird species, revealing that birdsong consists of just eight basic sounds, including trills and whistles. These motifs evolved early in birdsong history and are adapted to local environments. Each species typically uses about five of the eight motifs, influenced by environmental factors such as sound transmission and communication needs.
