    The Law Society of Ireland warns that a new €520 flat fee for criminal legal aid solicitors may create 'legal deserts' with fewer solicitors participating. President Rosemarie Loftus noted that 81% of solicitors would resign under the new scheme. Minister Jim O’Callaghan defended the fee, stating it aims to improve justice access despite concerns from legal professionals.
