    Former Irish Soldier Loses Rape Conviction Appeal

    Kielan Mooney, a 30-year-old former Irish Defence Forces member from Derry, has lost his appeal against a conviction for raping a fellow soldier. The Court of Appeal dismissed his argument regarding the admission of a 999 call made by the victim. Mooney was sentenced to eight and a half years in prison for multiple rape charges committed in July 2021.
