    Ireland's Data Centres Consume 23% of Electricity

    In 2025, data centres in Ireland accounted for 23% of the national electricity consumption, up from 22% in 2024. Their usage has surged from 5% in 2015, with consumption growing nearly sixfold from 291 GWh to 1,991 GWh. The government has lifted a moratorium on new connections and is exploring hydrogen as an alternative energy source.
