    Catherine L’Estrange, an 11-year-old from North Acton, is the first UK patient to receive gene therapy for Bardet-Biedl syndrome (BBS), a rare condition that can cause blindness. The treatment, performed at St Helier Hospital, involves injecting healthy copies of the BBS10 gene into her eye. This therapy is significant as no other treatments are available.
