    The National Museum of Ireland in Castlebar hosts an exhibition marking the 70th anniversary of the first National Soap Box Derby, held on July 8, 1956. A soap box car driven by Joseph Moran is featured, showcasing the event's historical significance and popularity, which attracted 4,000 spectators. Alan Murray from Sligo won the national derby, later competing in Ohio.
