    In 2025, the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) recorded 6,135 consumer complaints, marking a 23% increase from the previous year. The majority of complaints involved unfit food, including foreign objects like fingernails and batteries. Hygiene standards and suspected food poisoning were also significant concerns. The FSAI highlighted the importance of public reporting for food safety.
