    Sharp rise in motor fuel prices in August

    AA Ireland reports a significant increase in average motor fuel prices in August. Diesel prices rose by 19 cents to €1.92 per litre, while petrol increased by 9 cents to €1.84. This rise is attributed to higher wholesale prices linked to oil market conditions, despite ongoing government excise cuts. Further increases are expected in the autumn.
