    Retailer to repay €8.87m Covid wage subsidies

    A major retailer is required to repay €8.87 million to the Revenue Commissioners after incorrectly claiming wage subsidies during the Covid-19 pandemic. The Tax Appeals Commission found that the retailer failed to prove a 30% revenue drop necessary for the Employment Wage Subsidy Scheme. The case may be escalated to the High Court for further opinion.
