    Increase in Child Welfare Referrals in Ireland

    In 2025, one in 23 children in Ireland was referred to Tusla, the child welfare agency, marking over 100,000 referrals for the first time. Reports of poor school attendance led to a 16% increase in referrals. Emotional abuse was the most common concern. Despite increased funding, Tusla faces staffing challenges while implementing a transformational change program.
