    Solicitors Resign Over New Legal Aid Fee

    More than 50 solicitors have resigned from the criminal legal aid panel in Ireland due to a new €520 flat fee for district court representation, effective July 1. The Law Society and The Bar of Ireland criticized the fee, warning it could create 'legal deserts.' Justice Minister Jim O’Callaghan defended the fee as generous, addressing system abuse issues.
