    Pól Deeds, the Irish Language Commissioner in Northern Ireland, noted that political opposition is the main obstacle to implementing the Irish Language Act, rather than a lack of resources. He called for increased investment in the language and clarified his limited role regarding public authorities. A draft of language standards is due by mid-September 2023, with implementation aimed for January 2027.
