    Nobby Stiles, a former Manchester United player and 1966 World Cup winner, died in 2020 at age 78. An inquest revealed he had chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) and Alzheimer's disease. His family is advocating for better support for former players with similar injuries and pursuing legal action against football authorities for negligence. A full inquest is set for July 2026.
