    Galway Trials Wheelchair Access Mats at Beaches

    Galway City Council is initiating a trial of wheelchair access mats at Ballyloughane Beach and Silverstand Beach after nearly three years of storage. This pilot program, developed in collaboration with the Irish Wheelchair Association and Technological University of Shannon, aims to improve accessibility based on community feedback. Funding from the Outdoor Swimming Infrastructure Fund will support self-service beach wheelchair stations.
