    Father and son lose Covid fine appeal

    Nicolae and Florin Mazarache lost their appeal against €2,000 Covid fines for alleged travel regulation breaches at Dublin Airport in April 2021. The Supreme Court denied their further appeal, deeming it moot as the Director of Public Prosecutions opted not to prosecute. Their challenge against fixed payment notices was dismissed by the High Court and upheld by the Court of Appeal.
