    Dublin protests over British troop abductions

    On July 16, 1976, the Irish government expressed concern to British authorities regarding the alleged abduction of two civilians by British soldiers, including SAS members, from the Republic of Ireland. The civilians claimed they were taken at gunpoint across the border into South Armagh. The British Ambassador denied any incursion by troops, despite the Irish complaint.
