    Ireland Reduces VAT Rate for Restaurants to 9%

    The VAT rate for the restaurant sector in Ireland will be lowered from 13.5% to 9%, effective at midnight. Tánaiste Simon Harris stated this decision supports small businesses, particularly in rural areas. The measure, announced in the previous budget, is projected to cost taxpayers €232 million in 2026 and €681 million in 2027.
