    Data Centres Consume 23% of Ireland's Electricity

    In 2025, data centres in Ireland accounted for 23% of the country's national electricity consumption, up from 22% in 2024. Their energy use has surged from 5% in 2015 to 23% in 2025, with consumption growing nearly sixfold to 1,991 GWh. The government has lifted a moratorium on new data centre connections and is exploring hydrogen fuel as a backup energy source.
