    According to new statistics from the Central Statistics Office, data centres accounted for 23% of Ireland's metered electricity consumption in 2025, a significant increase from 5% in 2015. Consumption rose from 6,973 GWh in 2024 to 7,663 GWh in 2025, with data centres now consuming more electricity than urban households. The government is facilitating investment in this sector.
