    Court upholds conviction of man for abuse

    The Court of Appeal has upheld the conviction of an 81-year-old man for sexually abusing his 15-year-old grandson in 2015. The court rejected the man's appeal regarding the exclusion of a prepared statement made to gardaí, which was deemed self-serving. He was sentenced to five and a half years in prison after two trials, the first resulting in a hung jury.
