    Australia to Toughen Modern Slavery Penalties

    Australia plans to hold large companies criminally liable for modern slavery in their supply chains, according to Attorney General Michelle Rowland. This decision follows threats of trade tariffs from the United States. Companies with revenues over Aus$100 million must prevent forced labour and debt bondage. New laws will also introduce civil penalties for non-compliance.
