    American soldier identified after 246 years

    An American soldier, Private John Pumphrey, who died in the Revolutionary War, has been identified after 246 years. His remains were found in South Carolina in 2020. DNA sequencing linked him to a distant relative, confirming his identity. Pte Pumphrey, possibly just 13 when he enlisted, died at the Battle of Camden in 1780 and has been reburied with honors.
